optical and photorefractive material. It has high electro-optical coefficients,
fast response time, high two-wave mixing gain. Different compositions: SBN:60;
SBN:75; different dopants: Ce, Cr, Co; various dopant levels; striation and
scatter free; custom fabrication. The introduction of small amounts of certain
transition or rare-earth elements into SBN are used to modify the photorefractive
characteristics of the crystal. Two compositions of crystal Strontium Barium
Niobate (SrxBa1-xNb2O6 or SBN) solid-solution are the most attractive for applications:
SBN:60 is a congruently melting composition; SBN:75 has the highest electro-optical
coefficients.
