X-ray Fluorescence Analyzer MetExpert - CUSTOMS is intended to accelerate customs inspections and to make them more precise. Customs controls are carried out by the frontier clearance service, the border surveillance service and mobile control groups. These controls do not only serve the guaranteed levying of duties, but also for example the protection of public order, of fauna and flora and human health. Among others, customs is therefore authorized to seize items prohibited.


PASSENGER TRAFFIC:

In spite of certain reliefs in the clearance of goods in the travelers' personal baggage passenger may not carry with him all goods and products in passenger traffic without any limitations. The importation and exportation of certain goods is restricted and possible only under certain conditions (e.g. previous permission); for some products even absolute import and export prohibitions apply. The customs administration is charged with the control of these import and export restrictions.

The MetExpert - CUSTOMS allows to control within seconds wide spectrum of the suspicious goods and can help to distinct between harmless and dangerous substances, simple and precious metals, convinied adornment and jewels, for example:

  • cosmetic powder and toxic compounds of arsenic, thallium or mercury
  • copper-nickel alloy and palladium-iridium alloy
  • zircon and diamond

FREIGHT TRAFFIC:

The MetExpert - CUSTOMS analyzer is an unique specialized device oriented to problems, connected with routine customs inspections of commercial goods, especially by mobile control groups. The application of MetExpert allows considerable acceleration of the custom clearance, because the customs officer can make decisions immediately in most cases without necessity to send the samples to analytical laboratory. Some examples:

  • are the declared goods made of conventional steel or of special alloys ?
  • is the declared as titan pigment powder titanoxide or other, possibly dangerous or dual use chemical compound ?
  • are the goods painted with harmless pigment or with toxic lead pigment ?

FEATURES:
  • The MS Windows based unique software of MetExpert automatically controls all functions of the spectrometer. Many thousands of measurements, including spectra, can be saved to hard disk and printed-out later or moved to another PC for further processing.
  • During the test run all elements from Ca to Pu will be analyzed. For each element the quantity value and its tolerance will be calculated and compared with preset tolerance. In case the estimated tolerances are within preset tolerance range the elements and their percentage contents will be displayed. Operator has possibility to change the tolerance threshold according to his needs.
  • MetExpert devices calculate the quantities of each element using its fundamental spectral data. No external calibration standards needed.
  • The MetExpert-CUSTOMS allows operator to preset the list of elements to be analyzes. This option gives a possibility to estimate the trace elements with increased precision.
  • Besides the analyze function of showing the measured element concentrations the MetExpert offers 2 more options: For material identification the measured results are compared with a material database and the name of the material found is displayed.
  • When sorting the device checks if the actual measurement matches with an earlier made reference measurement within determined tolerance data.
  • The built-in “batch analysis”-function allows a series of measurements without need to open the case. The measurement routine starts after pressing a button, all results are saved for later processing and the device prepares for the next measurement run.
  • The separate detector unit allows measurement of large objects or hard to access parts.
  • MetExpert devices have 2 independed levels of protection from X-ray irradiation, which exclude any danger for operator.
